Spain - Sustainable Development Internship

You’ll be based in Barcelona city center, close to the many cultural and entertainment activities for which this city is justly famous. Our staff will pick you up at Barcelona Prat International Airport and take you to your accommodation.

The first week will include an in-depth orientation covering local business etiquette, health and safety, cultural norms, and even a crash course in Spanish. After a week of intensive orientation, you will work full-time at your internship for the next six weeks. During that time, we’ll go on a couple of excursions, learn more about the issues facing Barcelona, connect with social innovators, and build new friendships.

Barcelona is convenient to many European destinations and Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt are only a short flight away. Excellent rail and air connections means a weekend is enough time to get away and experience somewhere new. But never forget Spain is extremely diverse and that a trip to Madrid, Seville or Galicia can feel like ‘leaving the country’.

As a group, we’ll take two weekend excursions, one to Spain’s Costa Brava or “Wild Coast”. By day you will enjoy exploring the Costa Brava’s quaint fishing villages and medieval towns that hug beautiful beaches and turquoise waters. The second excursion will be to the quaint, ocean side town of Tarragona, a traditional wine producing region and home to the Roman ruins of Tarraco, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our group excursions will be unique and memorable

This organization focuses on a variety of areas including; sustainable futures, eco-design, climate change, corporate social responsibility, fair trade, ethical finance, ethical fashion, and cradle to cradle.

They provide advisory and creative consultancy services as well as research and integral development for communication strategies, bringing sustainability concepts to practice through good communication.

The organization works in the creation and development of messages for sustainable products and services, using accessible, resource efficient and re-usable technologies and systems.

They propose custom-made learning solutions, using innovative tools and suitable pedagogies to approach different competency levels, multiplying the possibilities of social transformation through education.

They offer seminars and workshops on communication for sustainability, sustainable events, ecological footprinting, teacher training, sustainable organizations and the development of online social networking for sustainability initiatives.

They provide strategy and consultancy in sustainable events and ecological footprinting.

Requirements

Interns should be at a minimum, conversationally fluent in Spanish.

You, our staff and the other interns live together in a student residence conveniently located in the center of Barcelona. You’ll have a room with a bathroom and shower. In the mornings you will take clean and efficient public transportation to work. Breakfast will be served every day, but lunches and dinner are on your own as you and your fellow interns will be spread out across the city. Furthermore, the mid-day ‘comida’ is the main meal of the day in Spain, not just a rushed sandwich, providing the perfect opportunity for you to socialize with co-workers.

The tuition for this program is $6,895.
