A Gap Year is about self discovery, independence and adventure, therefore many gap year students look to spend their time by traveling, volunteering, or even finding a job. Terra Intern Abroad international internships combine these three aspects and more.

Terra Intern Abroad International internships give students a leg up over other traditional Gap Year programs.

First; Our interns are placed with mission-based social enterprises, Non-governmental Organizations and sustainable businesses in developing countries. You will be learning from those on the front-line of social change.

Second; Terra Intern Abroad's support network allows Gap Year students more freedom.

Instead of being tied to a tour group, interns on the same or even different internships only share group lodging. You will have an opportunity to get to know other international interns, while also having the flexibility and independence to explore on your own.

Third; Terra Intern Abroad internships are structured learning experiences

Unlike a typical volunteer job, our internships are designed as experiential learning projects. Internships are planned, observed and evaluated. You are paired with an experienced mentor at your internship site who will give you positive feedback and constructive critiicism about the work you do for your project, not just a welcoming handshake and a wave goodbye.

Our Mission

To empower students to become globally minded professionals by enabling hands-on work experience with organizations around the world that are making a difference. We do this by creating an international network of in-country partners and local grass roots organizations who are working to improve the welfare of their community in areas such as education, health care, the environment, clean energy, economic development, agriculture and more. Terra Intern Abroad is open to work with non-profits, non-governmental organizations, sustainable businesses and mission-driven social enterprises.
