Internships are an investment in your educational and professional development. We have found most students with limited or no travel experience to the destination country choose to do an international internship through Terra Intern Abroad for many reasons. Among them:
Why is it so diffcult to obtain a short-term internship?
Many organizations consider training and support to new interns as a cost in the form of time and energy. If they include the cost to subsidize the internship of the student with the time and energy to train students from abroad, many quality organizations are reluctant to open their doors. With Terra Intern Abroad, because student tuition covers the cost of logistics and includes our in-country orientation and support, many local organizations are more open to receiving short-term international interns who can add a new perspective to their organization.
Where does the tuition go?
The process of preparing, training, transporting, housing, feeding, and supervising international interns all costs money. Student tuition is used to pay for:
We do not charge for the international internship – you pay for all the support and travel-related expenses involved in living in a foreign country.
Are all Terra Intern Abroad Internships unpaid?
All of our international internships are unpaid. The local organizations with which you will intern have limited resources and are often not able to subsidize your trip, cover the costs of hosting you, or even pay a stipend. (These costs include housing, feeding and transporting you, among numerous other things.)
How can I earn funds for my internship program?
There are many ways to earn funds such as doing fund raising activities or participating in our Campus Representative program. Contact us for more details.
About Terra Intern Abroad
Terra Intern Abroad is an independent, international organization and receives no funding from governmental or religious sources. All of our international internship programs are covered by our comprehensive in-country support network that is financed solely by student tuition. Because our internships are located in foreign countries, the safety and comfort of our interns is the number one priority. At Terra Intern Abroad you are not charged for the internship and we do not charge a fee to the organizations with whom we place interns. In fact, some students arrange their own internship independently, but join Terra Intern Abroad to arrange all of the logistics and orientation on interning abroad.
